Cupping therapy is a specialized form of alternative treatment. A cup is placed on areas of the skin to create suction and release tension. Kim uses a handheld pump to create a strong pull. She performs the therapy to release muscle/fascial tightness, promote blood flow, and enhance relaxation. This therapy is also used to help reduce pain and inflammation. It's roots trace back to ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern practices. As research has progressed cupping therapy has become more accepted in the health field. The practice of cupping works by creating a vacuum that suctions your skin. This suction causes the skin to rise and swell. This rising and swelling stimulates your blood vessels, tissues, and fascia releasing tension. Once Kim removes the cups you may experience elevated relaxation, comfort, and mobility.
